Grassroots Computers annually donates over 10% of annual compan profits
to assist needy orphans and family oriented charity organizations in
the USA and abroad.
When we say we are different, we mean it. We interact with our family
of customers offering products and programs that benefit you with the

In a nutshell, we help the worlds largest manufactures build strategies
to sell and repair their excess inventory and customer returned
product. All the products we sell come with a warranty and the quality
must meet strict standards.
Based on eBay policy we have posted letters from two
charities we support.

Order Processing Times
- Standard Order Processing time:
1-3 Days from date of payment your item should leave our warehouse.
- Estimated Order Transit time:
2-10 Business Days from shipment date.
- Total Estimated Delivery time:
You should receive your item in a minimum of 4 days and a maximum of 12
days.
- Please understand that once we deliver
your item to FedEx or USPS the delivery of the item is in their hands.
We do NOT require a signature on shipments so make sure you are
available to receive your package.

- We do not ship on weekends or holidays.
- USPS shipments are provided a delivery
confirmation number, these are not tracking numbers.
- FedEx, UPS, DHL shipments are provided
with a tracking number and may require a signature.

Q. What does manufacturer recertified
mean?
A. The word "recertified" is the term the
manufacturer uses to describe product that was returned in a retail
setting, such as Costco or Best Buy, and then run through a battery of
tests, any defective parts are replaced to confirm full drive
fitness. Buying recertified is a great way to reduce needless
waste and increase your contribution to saving the earth by reducing
landfill
e-waste. Recertified is the smart,
community, earth conscious way to go!
These recertified drives have the same low failure
rate that brand new drives have. That being said, we recommend backing
up importand documents to TWO SEPARATE devices (ie: this external drive
and also CD or DVD). This is what we do here in our office to ensure no
irreplaceable files are ever lost in case of drive failure.
Q. Do you combine shipping charges?
A. Unless combined shipping charges are listed in
the particular auctions you are purchasing, we do not combine shipping
charges. This does not mean that multiple item orders will be shipped
separately. Packaging of shipments to one customer, even on multiple
item orders, is at the discretion of the seller. We do not offer
shipping refunds if you pay separate shipping fees
and receive your orders in one box.
Q. My hard drive capacity is less
than I expected?
A. All
hard drive manufacturers use a slightly different yardstick of
measurement than your computer does. The hardware industry measures disk capacity
as 1GB equals 1,000,000,000 bytes.
Computers
calculate disk drive capacity as 1GB equals 1,073,741,824 bytes.
If you take your
hard drive size and divide it by 1074 rounding up you will get the
approx. size in Gigabytes available on the computer. A quick way you
can confirm
this is by checking your local hard drive capacity. If you have a 120GB
hard drive locally it will show up as 111GB. A 30GB hard drive shows up
as 27.8GB. Likewise a 500GB drive shows up as 465GB. etc. For more

Q. What does
"plug & play" mean?
A. Plug and Play means you can plug the drive in while
your computer is on, you don’t have to turn it off first. Plug and Play
does not mean that the drive will automatically be ready to be used
when you plug it in. Initial formatting and other basic steps may need
to be taken before your drive is recognized by your computer.

My hard drive doesn't seem to be working properly, what should I do?
A. Please contact Western Digital via the web
at www.wdc.com or by phone at 800-275-4932 for technical support and
they can help you determine what the issue may be. They manufactur this
product, and your warranty is direct with them. If they
determine the drive is DOA or non-functioning you can arrange to swap
it out with them for a replacement. You also have the option, if you
are within the first 30 days of purchase from us, to send us
an ebay message with your Western Digital case number we will verify
your case number and arrange an exchange for you. You must obtain a WD
case number prior to contacting us for a return or exchange.
Q. Does this drive need to be
formatted?
A. These drives come preformatted from the factory
in the FAT32 file system. This is compatible with both Mac and PC, but
will not necessarily be auto-recognized by a PC when plugged in. We
recommend reformatting the drive in the NTFS file
system for optimal use on a Windows-based PC. Reformatting the
drive is an easy and quick process that you can perform yourself when
you plug in the drive the first time.
Q. Why don't you ship internationally?
A. Currently we do not ship outside of the USA and
its territories due to tracking and customs issues.
Q. Will this item be compatible with
my computer?
A. Check with your computer system manufacturer for
compatibility guarantees. However, this device is widely compatible
with standard PC and Mac systems running Windows XP, Vista and
Mac OSX or newer.
Q. I live in California, why do I
have to pay sales tax?
A. We ship from California, and are required by law
to charge tax to all orders that ship to California customers.
Q. I sent payment, when will my order
ship?
A. We ship almost all orders within 1 to 2 business
days of receiving payment. We do not ship on weekends or major
holidays. Some orders take up to 3 to 5 business days to ship.
