Up for auction is an EXTREMELY rare 1976 Gibson Explorer Limited Edition. In 1976, Gibson decided to make its first reissue of the 1958 Explorer. However, they created two different models... the regular Explorer and the Limited Edition. The Limited Edition features a much thicker neck, and only 100-300 are rumored to have been manufactured. In the late 1970's U2's Edge came across the 1976 Limited Edition Explorer, and it soon become his iconic guitar.
The 1976 Explorers carry a tremendous amount of tone, and the pickups are my all-time favorites (tar bottoms). This particular Limited Edition has so much vintage mojo it is unreal. It is 100% original with the exception of a replacement pickguard. There are a few bumps and bruises that are typical of a 30+ year old vintage instrument, including some body separation characteristic of 70's Explorers. I have included a ton of pictures to show the guitar in as many angles as possible. The guitar is overall in great shape, and all who play it fall in love with it. I have had multiple offers from people to purchase this guitar, but I couldn't part with it. With property taxes approaching, I have no choice but to part with some of my prized collection.
Included with the purchase of the guitar is its original hard case in which it will be shipped. I have opened this up for international biddingI have set international shipping charges at $125 as an initial estimate, but please note that additional shipping charges may apply. If the shipping turns out less than my estimate, I will be happy to refund the difference as I am not trying to make money on shipping.
I have done my best to describe the guitar to the best of my ability, but my words pale in comparison to the sound this Limited Edition creates. It is simply off the charts, and you won't be disappointed. Remember, there is a reason that Edge has made this his main instrument for the past 30 years. Please feel free to ask any and all questions. I will do my best to get an answer back to you as soon as possible. Good luck!
