I'm parting with my beloved Surly due to lack of time to ride it :-( . This bike is in unreal shape and has only seen one short tour (about 150 mi) . A lot of the parts were brand new before the tour!
This Long Haul Trucker is 100% purpose-built! Between the Surly-designed touring geometry and the parts I spec'd, this will be one if the smoothest, most comfortable touring/commuting bikes you have ever ridden!
The frame is welded from 100% Japanese steel! It comes with a beautiful matching lugged steel fork. This bike has an old world classic look and feel, but with modern amenities. It sits upright with a long wheel base and has predictable handling. The bike uses non-oversized tubing for a compliant ride for long days in the saddle or daily commuting. It features an ergonomic saddle and a very unique handlebar! This bar was made in limited quantities and is the best of its kind as it offers more useable riding positions.
This bike was thoughtfully built from the ground up. Bullet-proof tires! German SKS fenders, hand-built wheels (built with DT Spokes and WTB Dual Duty rims for durable, trouble-free riding). The rear rack is made from tubular chromoly! It's Surly-made and the nicest I've ever seen... It wasn't cheap!
The bike uses mountain-style v-brakes which are very powerful and noise-free. It also uses many MTB parts through-out for durability, such as KT shifters/brake levers, LX rear derailleurs, stout and stiff Truvativ Stylo cranks and Shimano clip-in pedals. Also included are new Trek panniers full of features and a beautifully crafted Jandd handlebar bag with clear map pocket!
There isn't a nick or ding on this frame and fork and many of these parts are new. Even the bar tape looks untouched. This very well thought-out bike even includes replacement spokes on the chainstay... a beautiful detail!
Don't settle for a pieced-together bike that's not intended for the job. If you plan on commuting everyday, participating in long tours, or just want a comfortable bike, it's not worth settling for less. Everything from the geometry to each part was chosen for optimum comfort and performance.
