Silver Conn Soprano Sax: No. 115978. 1923. This instrument oozes the aura of the Jazz Age. It has a commanding tone in both upper and lower range. The tone itself is less metallic than recent horns, delightfully mellow, and with a warmth that would have been at home at a party of the Great Gatsby in east Egg in 1924. In spite of everything one hears about early soprano saxes ("fish horns", etc.) , this one has good pitch. It is in very playable condition, in need only of adjusting, perhaps a couple of pads replaced, and a thorough cleaning and polishing (some discoloration on upper part of main tube). I played it without any of these refinements and was delighted. The only reason I am selling it is because I have another, gold plated.
Comes with solid and usable original Conn case.
