Magnificent set of 6 pieces, this Antique French Sterling Silver Tea/Coffee Service with gorgeous coquille motifs for your consideration!
This fabulous, sumptuous Tea/Coffee Service comprises beautiful 6 Pieces, tall Coffee Pot, Tea Pot, covered Sugar Bowl, cleam/milk pitcher and lovely Tea Strainer. All the 6 pieced in excellent shape, decorated with lavish Coquille or Seashell motifs and Bâte borders, and the handles and spouts are embellished with elegant Acanthus leaves motifs. Domed lids of pots and sugar bowl are adorned with large pommel finial. The hanging tea strainer is not original for the set, I just have happen to find it and looks perfectly match, is included for this sale. The set coming with large, gorgeous serving tray, is also decorated with Bâte border and shell pattern. There is no monogram on this magnificent set. Rare great find, an exceptional offer! Measurements: Tea Pot: 9" (23cm) high - 5"3/4 (14.6cm) diameter of the body - weight 1lb 8.1oz (683g). Coffee Pot: 10" (25.5cm) high - 4"3/4 (12cm) diameter - weight 1lb 6.1oz (626g). Sugar Bowl: 6"3/4 (17.2cm) high - 4"5/8 (11.8cm) diameter - weight 15.8oz (447g). Cream Pitcher: 4"3/4 (12.2cm) high - 3"1/8 (8cm) diameter of body - weight 6.9oz (196g). Tea Strainer: 1"1/8 (3cm) - 2"(5.1cm) diameter - weight 0.5oz (14g). Serving Tray (silver plated): 22"7/8 (58.1cm) large with handles - 13"7/8 (35.2cm) wide - 4lb 15.6oz (2258g). The total weight of sterling silver (2pots, sugar bowl, pitcher, tea strainer) is 4lb 5.5oz (1966g). Total weights of 6 pieces: 9lb 5.2oz (4224g).
As hallmarks we have The French Minerva No.1 on each parts of silver, which indicates the best quality of French sterling silver 950/1000 (purer than .925 sterling!) used in Paris since 1838. As maker's mark, we have of "Louis COIGNET", 9 Place des Vosges, had worked in Paris from 1889. The tray is silver-plated, marked number "32" (quantity of silver) and another mark (not legible). Tea Infuser has also Minerva No.1 mark, and maker's mark of "Leneuf", 11 rue Saint-Anastase.
This fabulous Antique French Sterling Silver Tea/Coffee Service is in Excellent Condition for the pots, sugar bowl and pitcher. Tea Strainer is in Very Good Used Condition. The tray has some trace of use, light scratches and some lost of plated-silver on the back.
